    Gerhard Valentin
    Managing Director

Dr. Gerhard Valentin is the founder and Managing Director of Valentin Software GmbH.

After studying electrical engineering, Gerhard Valentin was engaged at the Technical University (TU) Berlin for six years as a Researcher in the area of solar technology. During this time he wrote his first program for the simulation of solar systems, on a TU Berlin mainframe computer, and took his doctor’s degree on the subject of Combining Solar Thermal Systems and Heat Pumps.

After being awarded his doctorate and working as a consultant for energy provision in hospitals, at 40 years old he established his own planning office in 1988. A research project to develop a simulation program for the up and coming PC signalled the successful start of his company. His first program was launched in 1993 under the name of T*SOL (solar thermal) and the second program did not take long to follow. PV*SOL (photovoltaics) was first released in 1997. Today the programs of both product lines are sold in over 70 countries around the world, helping to establish solar energy as the standard for energy supply.

After more than 20 years, Valentin Software GmbH is the worldwide leading business in simulation programs for sustainable energy supply.
